Beautiful Brownies!

Now as many of my readers know…I may have a slight addiction to brownies, sweet, beautiful, brownies!

Brownie

My favorite way to eat a brownie, is of course the corner piece, with a dusting of powdered sugar on top. Oh who am I kidding…more like a blanket of powdered sugar on top! Or maybe warm, with vanilla ice cream, and maybe a drizzle of chocolate and caramel syrup! Oh my, I could go on and on, about the ways I like to eat a brownie! It’s a good thing I have some, because now I want one!

Since I don’t always have a box mix on hand, when I want brownies, I wanted to come up with a recipe that was easy and of course yummy. This recipe is very versatile with it’s available substitutions that make the recipe so simple to throw together. Oil can be substituted for butter or margarine, or a half oil, half butter, 3 eggs for a fudgier texture, or 4 eggs for a more cake-like brownie.

This mix can also be used as a Gift in a Jar, idea for the coming holiday season. Simply place the dry ingredients into a quart mason jar, and add a tag listing the wet ingredients and baking time/temp, and tie it up with a bow or label. You could even add nuts or mini chocolate chips to the dry mix ingredients for an added treat.

Another optional and fun addition to these beautiful brownies, is to add peanut butter. Simply melt 1/2 C of peanut butter, until it is a pour-able consistency and drizzle over the batter. Use a knife to lightly swirl it into the batter and bake as directed.
