1. What’s the biggest way that the decision to homeschool has changed your life?
It has allowed me to be even closer to my two youngest. Now that I am able to be a SAHM, I get to spend all day with them.
2. What was your favorite subject in school?
I really did not have a favorite subject in school, but I did have a couple of great teachers that taught me some amazing life lessons!
3. Do your kids have the same educational interests that you do or do they prefer other subjects? If they prefer different subjects, has that been a challenge?
My oldest is an avid reader and music junkie, like me, but the younger ones are really not at all like me. LOL! Lil man is amazing at math, and I was horrible! He is also a big time gamer, which has never been my thing. Lil miss is an amazing artist, and she has a great ear for music, which I did somewhat. They both love history and science and me not so much, but in many ways it keeps me learning, too! I actually had to teach myself fractions and algebra, when lil man was learning, but I know that I will have to do a serious refresher when it is time for lil miss to learn it all. Luckily, I learn better on my own, which has helped me immensely!
4. What was your favorite summertime activity as a kid? What about now?
Hanging out with friends, riding the city bus to the library with my grandma, and going on weenie roasts, were always fun for me.
Now, simply hanging out with the kids and doing weenie roasts in our back yard, complete with S’mores and roasted glazed donuts!
5. What was the last book that you read?
The book that I just finished was Prairie Tale by Melissa Gilbert, which was amazing!
The one that I am currently reading is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline for the #PageTurners online book club!
6. What’s one book that you’d recommend to anyone and why?
Only one!?! LOL! I love to read, but I will go with the book that Cary Elwes wrote “As You Wish…Inconceivable Tales From the Making of The Princess Bride“!
7. What book or series that you loved when you were younger were you were most excited to share with your kids?
Oh wow…there were so many! LOL! Just to list a couple…
These books were huge favorites of mine as a kid, and happily loved by my kids as well!
8. What’s your #1 blogging tip?
Don’t be afraid to make friends! It took me quite a while to interact with others, when I started blogging…and doing so has been the most amazing part! I have been blessed to make so many amazing friends during these last couple of years!
9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?
While I dream of visiting Scotland…I would live somewhere tropical! Living in the Midwest all of my life, I am so over shoveling snow and cold weather!
10. What’s one educational field trip you’d love to take your family on?
Again…only one?!? LOL! I would love to take the kids to visit some old Revolutionary war sites, especially on the East coast, where the hubby’s family is from. Massachussets for sure, to see the memorial to Deborah Sampson…a female who served in the Revolutionary War as a man, and is one of the hubby’s distant ancestors. Civil War sites, WW2 sites in Europe, National monuments here in the states and abroad, and so many other amazing things!
