Suzannah from Chronicles of a Lumpy Person!

Suzannah from Chronicles of a Lumpy Person!

Please help me give a huge welcome to a fairly new member of the #AskAwayFriday family, Suzannah from Chronicles of a Lumpy Person. Suzannah is a wife and mom, with a rare genetic condition, sharing the challenges she faces and offering inspiration to others by finding the humor in the day to day chaos that we call life. Be sure to give her a warm welcome and stop by her site to read the answers that she gave to the questions I asked her.

Now on to my answers…

1. Tell me a bit about yourself and your family so I can get to know you.

I am a SAHM, after being a career mom for 18 1/2 years. I am married to hubby #2 and we have been married for 13 years and together for 18. I met him when I was 11 and he 19, when my dad married his mom…a marriage that did not last a full 2 months, but I always remained friends with the family. We have one son, who is almost 22 (he is from my first marriage), and then we also have lil man and lil miss together and they are 15 & 12. I homeschool the two younger ones. And the town that I currently live in, is the same one that I was born and raised in. The kids even went to some of the same schools that I did, when they still went to public school. I am fairly shy in person, until you get to know me and I love to read and listen to music.

2. Your blog is amazing. How long have you been blogging and what do you write about!

Thank you so, so much! 🙂 I started in December of 2012, just before I left my job. I write mostly about the kids, because they are always fuel for fodder…I mean they are teenagers, after all! I also love to bake, but I am horrible about remembering the pictures, but I am working on it! LOL! And reading has been a passion since I was a little girl, so book reviews are definitely becoming a bit more often. Otherwise, it may just be whatever pops into my head.

3. What has been your biggest achievement as a writer or blogger to date?

I have managed to make a few dollars here and there, which is really cool. I have even been lucky enough to review some neat stuff. Being recognized and making friends with other bloggers, has been amazing.

But as for real achievement on the visible scale like numbers and such…I don’t think that I am there yet, maybe even still too much doubt in my own mind…but it is a work in progress, and I will keep at it.

4. I’ve been blogging for a year and a half, but I learn something new everyday. What advice do you have for me?

Never stop learning! That has always been one of the side notes for me…I never knew how long I would be able to stay at home, and I figured this would help me keep my skills sharp and even take on learning something new.

Make friends…they are the best there is!

5. I’m Australian from a Maltese background. What are the first ten things that come to mind when thinking about Australia?

Rick Springfield – saw him in concert…twice!
Air Supply – saw them in concert, too!
Koalas
Men At Work
Olivia Newton John
Sydney Opera House
Dingos
Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin
Paul Hogan
Kangaroos
Can you tell that I am a music junkie! LOL!

6. I realised from my other AAF experience with another American that my knowledge about American life is very much influenced by American shows. Which American TV show most accurately depicts your type of life?

Okay, this show sadly had a very short run and has since been canceled…but here is the trailer, courtesy of YouTube…and while we are not quite this twisted…we certainly could be! LOL!

7. I love to cook. What is your favourite go to recipe you can share with me.

Often times, I am a lazy cook…I will ground up a pound or two of meat, brown it, and throw it in to some flavored rice, and maybe add a bag of frozen veggies…add some bread and butter and that is dinner…and leftovers!

8. Today as I write my questions it’s raining outside. What are your favourite rainy day activities?

It has been raining for a couple of days, here in the Midwest, too. My favorite thing to do would be to turn on some tunes, and grab a juicy romance novel to occupy my time.

9. I’m coming to your hometown for 24 hours and you’re showing me around. Where are you taking me and what are we doing?

Oh that’s easy…we would spend the day in Amish country! We would go to a place called Rockome Gardens, and take a buggy ride, shop in the lovely Amish shops, and tour the little village. We could eat a fine Amish luncheon. They even have an official Raggedy Ann and Andy shop. Then we could head over to the little town nearby, which is the birthplace of Raggedy Ann and Andy’s creator, for some more fine Amish Shopping.

10. If your next American president is female, how will this change America?

Sadly, I don’t think that it would make a bit of difference, as long as we still had a male run congress. Now if women were in control of congress and President…I really think that the right woman could really make a difference.

Thank you so much to Suzannah for the wonderful opportunity to swap questions this week! Be sure to stop by her site and then stop in to meet all of the other amazing participants!
