It is official…the new bedroom is finally complete!
As some of you know, I had been planning to paint lil miss’ bedroom for over a year now, and I finally got it accomplished! With the added addition of new curtains, bed, cubby shelf, body pillow and wall decor. I have to say that it turned out amazing! And of course, lil miss loves it!
Last spring she had picked out 6 different colors that she wanted to paint her room and we got all six in quart size cans. She really chose all but one color of the rainbow…red, orange, yellow, green, and blue, and purple, too! We also bought sponge rollers and sponges to use instead of a regular paint brushes and rollers.
Since we had six colors and only four walls, I came up with the idea of two on the longer walls and one color on each of the shorter walls, and she chose the positioning of the colors. LOL! Lil Miss’ decided that she wanted to leave the small area of white around the ceiling and baseboards to give the room a look of canvas or paper that had been colored as to leave the outside border. By the time we were done, I really thought that it looked cool that way.
She had several wall decorations that we had been waiting to put up because we knew that we would get the room done eventually! LOL! One year for Christmas, she had gotten a nice framed portrait of Belle and the Beast from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, a neat multi-color peace sign duct tape framed picture, some decorative butterflies, my Senior pic…not sure why that one, but okay! LOL! And I made her a really cool cork board project to put above her desk, which you can read about at Cute DIY Corkboard Project.
I also decided I would make her new curtains and a body pillow, (just click on the link to read about those), since I had some fabric and let her pick out a few remnants at the fabric store, to add to what we already had. Adding to that her new bed and memory foam mattress! LOL!
You know it is funny…her room is exactly what I would have done to my own bedroom as a kid, if we had not lived in an apartment for most of my childhood! LOL! I have also always said that she is oh so my little hippie; a complete free spirit! I love it!
