Sorry for my tardiness this week…I have been working like crazy to get lil miss’ room done! I am almost there, one more shelf to put together, and then we will be on to art work on the wall! Now back to the task at hand…Welcome to #AskAwayFriday “End of Summer” Edition with Christy from Uplifting Families!

This week, I am super thrilled to be teaming up with fellow #AskAwayFriday, co-host and friend, Christy from Uplifting Families. She has a wonderful site where she discusses topics that have something to offer all mom’s. Things like pregnancy, children, parenting, product reviews and being a mom! Something that we all know has its ups and downs, and can be a thankless job, but still the most amazing job that we could ever undertake. I know being a mom, is the best thing in the world! Be sure to stop by and show her a some love and see my questions for her for this “End of Summer” Edition of #AskAwayFriday! Stop by a few of the other participants by clicking on the link above to Penny or Amber’s sites. Enjoy!

Here are Christy’s 10 questions for me!

1. I know that you homeschool your children, do you start school the same time as public schools or do you start when it feels right to you?

I tried to in the beginning, but because of the cost of the program we had been using, they got a bit behind…but this year, yes they will be starting about the same time as regular school.

2. Are you looking forward to the kids getting back into the school routine?

I am actually looking forward to establishing a routine.

3. As a homeschooling mom, do you have a certain list of school supplies that you have to get for your children?

LOL! I actually have not bought school supplies other than notebook paper and pencils for 3 years. I developed a heck of a stash when they were all three of the kids were in public school.

4. I remember going back to school shopping to pick out new clothes, do you and your kids have a routine to get them prepared for school since you don’t go shopping for new clothing for their first day back at school?

LOL! Well since neither of them are overly excited when it comes time to doing school work…not really. This past few months I have simply been trying to work at getting them a quiet place to read and do work…without the distractions of their computers.

5. Do you have any vacation or special plans to do with your children before school starts?

Sort of, I would kind of like to take them a Abraham Lincoln site in my area, during one of their yesteryear type of fairs.

6. What is your favorite childhood memory when it comes to the back to school season?

That was really about the time of year that our family would go out for one of our fall weenie roasts, when I was a kid. I enjoyed going out and hunting for pretty leaves and acorns…

7. Have your kids stuck to their summer reading program?

Lil miss was the only one of the kids to sign up, and yes she has, only a couple of more weeks left to go and she will have completed this year.

8. Do you have any plans for Labor Day?

Not really, we might end up going over a an old co-worker throws every year. It is normally a real good time, full of good music, yummy pudding shots, and kind of laid back fun. But, I have not had a chance to say anything to hubby, since he has been kind of busy with work, and I have been trying to take care of everything on the home front…so we could just hang around home.

9. What are you looking forward to this fall?

Caramel Apples! We have a local shop in our area that just makes the best, caramel apples.

10. What is your favorite back to school movie: Farris Buller’s Day Off, Grease, or the Breakfast Club?

Oh for this one I am going to have to choose, Grease 2! I didn’t mind Grease and I saw The Breakfast Club a few dozen times…they weren’t really ones that I would still sit and watch today…and Grease 2 is. 🙂

Grease 2

That’s all for me this week! A gracious thank you to Christy from Uplifting Families for choosing me this week! Don’t forget to stop on over and show Christy some love and check out my questions for her.
