For this week’s #AskAwayFriday 27, I have the absolute pleasure to swap questions with a very wonderful blogger that I have been following for some time now…Bonnie from LadyBlogger! She is an amazing wife and mom to two teenage boys and a former teacher. She offers, on her site, tips on blogging, parenting, education, and other random thoughts on life. Please be sure to stop by her site at LadyBlogger and read the questions that I asked her.

Now for my answers to the questions that she asked of me!

1) I read that you homeschool your two youngest children. How did you decide to do this and how do you manage with them in two different grades?

My oldest son actually graduated form public school and the two little ones started out in it as well. Over the years we watched the public school system in our area get worse in the quality of the education that they were receiving. Then to add to our displeasure, the situation of bullying was starting to get worse, not only from other students but teachers, too.

The program we started with and have used the last two years came with lesson plans completely lined out. I still have papers to grade and help to give, but it gave me something to follow. This year, we are going with a different curriculum, mainly because of cost. I imagine it will be a bit crazier until we get into a routine, but it won’t be as strict or structured.

2) How long have you been blogging and what did you do in your pre-blogging life?

I started blogging a year ago this past January, when I became a SAHM. Before that I was a receptionist for a local TV station. I absolutely loved the job, but I wanted to spend more time with the lil ones before they were gone.

3) I love the “Favorite Book Montage” on your website! Can you choose a #1 favorite for kids and adults?

Oh to pick just one is absolutely impossible! LOL! I have loved to read since I was a little girl. For kids I actually have two, the first is The Lorax by Dr Seuss and the second is Miss Nelson is Missing by Harry Allard. Both were ones that I read regularly as a child by checking them out every chance that I got. They are now faves of all three of my kids…so much so that lil man actually found Miss Nelson is Missing and Miss Nelson is back through the RIF program, when he was in school and chose them for me as a gift.

Now for me and the adult side of things, I will choose a series of books that drug me into my historical romance fascination. It is a series of books labeled as the Brides Trilogy by Catherine Coulter, though by demand from her fans eventually became a total of 11 books.

4) Reading about your Loch Ness webcam viewing, I wonder if you still do it and if you’ve added any new webcams?

Sadly, they don’t have the Loch Ness cam on the live streaming site that I prefer to go on, which is camstreams.com, but I will pop through any other cams in the UK.

5) Do you still make homemade soap? Have you played around with other fragrances or colors?

I haven’t made any recently, I need to re-stock my supplies. I also need to decide if I am going to start selling through an etsy site or just straight off of my site. I will be making some in the near future using a rose scent and dried rose petals, and possibly some with a lavender scent and dried lavender.

6) How would you describe yourself in three words?

Strong, Loyal, Caring

7) What are the most fun and the hardest parts of parenting for you?

I think that the funnest part for me would be the open conversations that I am privileged to share with all three of my kids, they can get a bit wild! The hardest part is watching them get bullied or treated badly by others.

8) What do you see yourself doing in ten years?

I would love to still be at home, maybe babysitting a grand baby…a published author…blog going strong and making a nice amount of money.

9) As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Not that I really gave it a whole lot of thought, though at one time I did want to be a teacher…I guess that came true! LOL!

10) What is your favorite part of being a blogger?

My favorite part is really connecting with other bloggers. In this past year I have come across some of the most amazing people, that even though I have never physically met, I feel a great connection to.

Well that is all of the questions that Bonnie had for me for this weeks #AAF. Please be sure to stop by her site at LadyBlogger to read her answers to the questions that I asked of her! Now, be sure to stop by and get to know some of the other amazing participants of #AskAwayFriday!
