For those of you who have not heard of Ask Away Friday, here is the gist of this amazing opportunity. It is a fabulous way to make new friends, meet and get to know your fellow blogging friends by exchanging 10 questions with another blogger and then sharing those posts with your communities. I was invited to join in a couple of weeks ago and have quickly become addicted…for such a shy person, this is an amazing way to get to know people.
This wonderfully awesome opportunity is brought to the bloggy world by the amazing Penny from The Real Housewife of Caroline County and Amber from Bold Fab Mom. Please stop by and check them out, you won’t regret that you did!
This week, I am super thrilled to be teaming up with a new bloggy friend, who I have recently met up with through #AskAwayFriday, Christy from Uplifting Families. She has a wonderful site where she discusses topics that have something to offer all mom’s. Things like pregnancy, children, parenting, product reviews and being a mom! Something that we all know has its ups and downs, and can be a thankless job, but still the most amazing job that we could ever undertake. I know being a mom, is the best thing in the world! Be sure to stop by and give her a visit to see my questions for her! Stop by a few of the other participants by clicking on the link above to Penny or Amber’s sites. Enjoy!
Here are Christy’s 10 questions for me!
1. Do you have any advice for single mom’s when it comes to finding love again after being dumped or divorced?
Don’t look for it! I focused on spending time with D-man, and the man just kind of happened. LOL! I also went out some with girlfriends, some dancing, some going to the beach with D-man and my bestie, and going walking a few times a week with another girlfriend.
2. If you had $500 dollars to spend on yourself, what would you buy or do with the money? Why?
I would definitely go for a spa day with D-man and one of my best girlfriends.
3. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
4. Do you have any advice for parents who are considering homeschooling their child? I am trying to continue teaching my youngest son preschool but without a set curriculum it has been hard for me to do.
Decide what type of an education you want for your child and decide what you want to spend, and then do your research from there. At a pre-school age, I would almost go with the standards of colors, numbers, letters, shapes, sounds, and address and phone number. These are the types of things that they generally want done by the time that they start Kindergarten, if you want to follow more of a school type of study. You can even check out sites that offer a bit more structure for a possible cost. We went with something that is completely laid out day by day, and has a video classroom that the kids watch. I grade the papers and send the test and reports in and they get a report card. This is also an accredited program, and they can take their grades on to college. But it can also be expensive.
5. What is your favorite Disney movie? Why?
Beauty and the Beast…I guess in some ways, I have always likened myself to Belle…I love to read and dream of far off places, and of course, the prince. LOL!
6. Do you and your family have any Christmas traditions?
In the last couple of years, we have started going to the Christmas Eve service at Church. The other would be baking cookies and reading “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
7. Do you have any advice for new bloggers?
Meet people and make friends, they can and will always be your best source of support. Don’t expect things to happen over night, growth takes time.
8. Do you volunteer at your church? If so, how?
Yes, I do sometimes. I have volunteered for fellowship luncheons, Vacation Bible School (lil man and I were the photographers), and I have chaperoned a youth group or two.
9. What is your favorite meal to cook during the week when your short on time?
Leftovers from the weekend! LOL! I generally cook big meals on the weekends, so I don’t have to cook during the week very often. When I worked full time, I would cook huge meals on the weekends, because I was cooking for sometimes up to 6 people. My mom lived with us then and I was her caregiver, so leftovers during the work week was a simple re-heat. Since I am home though, I would say hamburgers and fries, would be it.
10. What is your favorite drink?
LOL! This one is my one addiction…I am a Mountain Dew girl…all the way! I can guzzle up to eight a day. 🙂
That’s all for me this week! A gracious thank you to Christy from Uplifting Families for choosing me this week! Don’t forget to stop on over and show Christy some love and check out my questions for her. Have a great weekend!
