Banana Bread

This is my Grandma’s Banana Bread recipe…which she made several loaves a month for years. LOL! So much so that she would generally have a stock pile of it in her deep freeze, complete with a little white piece of paper stuck to it with scotch tape (the woman had a love affair with her scotch tape, the family often joked that if she would’ve bought stock in it she would’ve been a rich woman) with the date written on it of when it was made. One of these days I will do a post strictly about Grandma, she was a hoot.

banana bread,

  • 3/4 C Butter (1 1/2 Sticks)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 1/2  C Sugar
  • 1 1/2 C Mashed Bananas
  • 1 t Vanilla
  • 3/4 t Salt
  • 1 t Soda
  • 2 C Flour
  • 1/2 C Buttermilk
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream together butter, sugar, eggs, and bananas; until they are light and fluffy. Mix in remaining ingredients and pour into two loaf pans.
For two 9×5 sized pans it would be about two cups of batter per pan.
Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
